Renowned playwright Dr Dennis Isaac passed away at the age of 71 in Canada on Friday.
His daughter, Sara Isaac, announced the Salaakhen and Karobi writer’s death in a Facebook post.
“It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the passing of our Dad, Dr Dennis Isaac, Beloved Husband to Maria Dennis, Loving Father to Shan Dennis Shaleen I and myself. He passed away at home peacefully surrounded by his family. We’ll miss you terribly, but we know you are at peace [sic],” she wrote.
“I remember him from my school days in Peshawar when the mass media was only electronic and print,” Father Sarfraz Simon diocesan director of the National Commission for Justice and Peace in Islamabad-Rawalpindi Diocese told Kross Konnection.
“He was a known radiologist as well and held a unique representation of Christian community. Minority authors are hardly known even in these days of social media. We have lost a great person.”
The list of Dr Dennis Isaac’s plays also includes Karab, Barish and a few episodes of Guest House as well as Thori Si Zindagi. He also translated the French novel Around the World in Eighty Days into Urdu.
Born on January 11, 1951, in Peshawar, Dr Isaac graduated from Khyber Medical College and served Peshawar Lady Reading Hospital for 25 years before moving to Canada in 2000.
Throughout his career, he was awarded several national awards for his services to the field of literature and entertainment, among which were those for best screenplay writer, the PTV Award for Excellence, PTV Golden Jubilee Gold Medal and Bazm-e-Fanoos Award Canada.
