A 62-year-old Ahmadi man was on Friday stabbed to death at the main bus stop in Rabwah city of Punjab’s Chiniot district.
As per the details, the victim, identified as Naseer Ahmad, was stabbed by a youngster who was taken into custody shortly after the killing. A video showed police escorting the attacker away as he chanted religious slogans.

Saleemuddin, an Ahmadiyya community spokesperson, claimed that Naseer was stabbed to death for “not raising slogans in favour of the late Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) founder Khadim Rizvi”.

Naseer is survived by his wife and three daughters, Saleem said.
AHMADIS IN PAKISTAN
Ahmadis in Pakistan have long been the target of systematic attacks and successive governments have failed to respect, protect and promote their human rights, forcing many to flee to other countries.
The Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) also explicitly discriminates against religious minorities and targets Ahmadis. Section 298-C of the PPC states: “Any person of the Quadiani group or the Lahori group (who call themselves ‘Ahmadis’ or by any other name), who, directly or indirectly, poses himself as a Muslim, or calls, or refers to, his faith as Islam, or preaches or propagates his faith, or invites others to accept his faith, by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representations, or in any manner whatsoever outrages the religious feelings of Muslims, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description of a term which may extend to three years and shall also be liable to fine.”

Friday’s killing comes after a 36-year-old member of the minority Ahmadiyya community was stabbed to death in Okara in May this year. The victim was identified as Abdus Salam, whereas the alleged murderer, Mulazim Hussain, was reportedly a student at a local madrassa (seminary).
In September last year, Maqsood Ahmed, an ex-army man belonging to the Ahmadi community, was shot dead by unknown gunmen near Nankana Sahib.
According to reports, the 45-year-old, who was a father of four and had retired from the Pakistan Army 10 years ago, was attacked by unidentified assailants in Chak 33 village of Dharowal as he irrigated his farmland.
